Pastor Tony Evans holds the place as the first African American to attend the Dallas Theological Seminary and receive a Doctorate in Theology. His education experience includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carver Bible College. Pastor Evans received a Masters in Theology from the Dallas Theological Seminary as well as his doctorate from the Dallas Theological Seminary as well. He continues to reside in Dallas with his wife.
Pastor Evans has a family who is involved in the ministry. His wife helps to co-found many of his ministries. He has four children, Chrystal, Priscilla, Anthony Jr, and Jonathan. Priscilla, along with her husband, is the founder of the Going Beyond Ministry. His son Anthony is a Christian singer.
While working as lead pastor for the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, Pastor Evans also offers a syndicated radio broadcast. Tony Evans’ sermons have been featured on radio shows throughout the country. He is also the chaplain for the Dallas Mavericks and was previously the chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys.
Pastor Evans actively works in numerous ministries, including the Urban Alternative. This ministry is one that he founded in an effort to bring more churches to urban areas across the country. He also speaks regularly for the Promise Keepers’ ministry and he speaks at Bible conferences in various cities.
