Born to a family of ministry in Baytown, Texas, Pastor John was involved in the church from a young age. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity University. He followed his B.S. with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, which he attained at the University of North Texas. He received a diploma of theology from the Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

Pastor Hagee went on to earn a Doctorate of Theology from Trinity University as well as a Doctorate of History from the University of North Texas.

Pastor Hagee began his ministry at the Trinity Church and went on to found two churches, including the Church of Castle Hills and Cornerstone Church, where he continues to be lead pastor. He and his children formed a gospel group called the Hagee Family Singers, and they have recorded several albums. John Hagee sermons are of the based in the Pentecostal faith with a belief that the Bible is the one and only authority for religious belief.

Pastor Hagee is a founder of the group called Christians United for Israel, a ministry that actively supports Israel and Jerusalem against the Palestinian government.
